ReflexologyWhat is Reflexology?Reflexology is a natural healing based on the principle that there are reflex zones on your feet, hands and ears that corresponds to every part of your body. By working on these specific points, a reflexologist assists all of your bodily systems in regaining balance. Reflexology can be used for prevention, pain reduction, relaxation or when dealing with a particular health challenge. Reflexology is especially helpful for women during the childbearing years. Research and anecdotal accounts attest that reflexology helps shorten labor and decrease labor pain, improves lactation and balances hormonal function. How Does Reflexology Work? There are many theories about how reflexology works. Reflexology allows for increased circulation. Circulation carries oxygen and the necessary nutrients to your cells, organs and tissues while carrying away waste. Reflexology removes blocked energy in the areas of your feet, hands and ears that are a reflection of the different parts of your body. This allows your body’s self-healing ability to work more effectively, carrying the vital life force energy to where it is needed. There are 7,000 nerve endings in your feet alone. Reflexology works on the crystallized deposits that accumulates at these nerve endings allowing for better function of the organs for which these nerve endings serve. What to Expect During A SessionAn assessment of your health background and will be taken so that your session can be better customized to your needs. You will be asked to remove your shoes and socks. You will then lay on a massage table or reclining chair. During a session, you may become very deeply relaxed or even greatly energized. You may also feel some tenderness when some points on your feet are manipulated. These areas are smoothed out until the tenderness decreases. If you are coming for a specific issue, I will still work on your whole system, not just the part of your foot that relates to that body part. This holistic approach ensures that the cause of the imbalance is addressed during the session. REFLEXOLOGISTS DO NOT DIAGNOSE HEALTH PROBLEMS OR PRESCRIBE MEDICATIONS. |
